How do you connect a Toshiba NB505-N500BL to a Toshiba 32TL515U LCD TV?

Do I use a VGA to HDMI cable or a VGA to RCA cable ?

Have been told to use a VGA to HDMI cable and plug into the HDMI port on TV.

Could not find any detailed information in manual for Notebook or TV.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

See the section Connecting a Personal Computer on p. 18 of the TV's Owner’s Manual. Use the PC IN terminal on the TV with an analog RGB (15-pin) computer cable and a PC audio cable as it says.

Also see the section Using external display devices, which begins on p. 68 of the computer's User's Guide. It explains how to use Fn + F5 to select the display.
