I have been trying to install windows 7 on my toshiba sattelite L505D, only to get to the installatioon part and be told "error code 0x800717" and files may be missing or corrupt. I was told by someone that the problem is in the registry, but I'm afraid to go intop the registry. The disk used for installation is from toshiba as a free upgrade for my laptop. I bought the laptop in 2009, but have been out of the country since then until now. Can someone tell me how to fix this problem or if I can get a new disk from toshiba?

i try to install  windows 7  to my toshiba satelite L300  laptop  with windows vista os but   only to get to the installatioon part and be told "error code 0x800717" and files may be missing or corrupt  then after that  it cant start  it gives me a comand prompt  window and run startup repair after that  it says windows cant  repair  the start up   and  again and again  so what should i do  ?to boot  from the previes  os or install new os
