Windows Vista & Windows XP

I have a Satellite L305-S59071, running the preinstalled Windows Vista Home Premium SP1.

During scheduled Windows updates the driver update for: Realtek - Network - Realtek RTL8102E/8103E Family PCI-E FE NIC will not install properly. 

Instead I encounter:

Failed: 1 update

Error(s) found:

Code 80070005  Windows Updat encountered an unknown problem.

I have tried disabling my virus software: CA Antivirus Plus 2009.

NEW PROBLEM:  I deleted driver and now the new driver will not install.  I've tried EVERYTHING.  I have a new entry in the device manager:

-Other devices:  Ethernet Controller. 

All attempts to reinstall the realtek driver fail.  Have tried the device manager and Toshiba system tools.

I have tried everything even safe mode.

Selecting "Ethernet Controller" and choosing update driver I get:

Windows has found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.

Realtek RTL8102E/8103E Family PCI-E FE NIC

Access is denied.

Rule #1 - Never allow Windows Update to install hardware drivers. Ever.

Download and install the Toshiba Driver:

RealTek LAN Driver for Windows Vista (32/64bit)
http://df.toshiba.com/driver_lan_realtek_27635C.exe

I have the driver, the problem is I get an access denied, OR it appears to install poperly, but does not actually install.  Ethernet port is still dead.
