Windows Vista & Windows XP

I have been having a serious problem when I try to update my computer through windows. After the update is complete it says restarting but never turns off. Then I have to hold down the power button until it turns off. When I turn it back on it says loading windows like normal but stays like that and never loads. I fixed it by entering safe mode and using system restore. But I still have the update problem. Any ideas please let me know.

You mean the same thing happens when you use Windows Update again? If so, install the updates one-at-a-time so you can identify the culprit.
