My Toshiba won't start

Good morning, I am new to this so not sure if I am posting in right spot or not. I have a Toshiba laptop, OS is Vista, not sure of other information. I have been trying today to get it turned on. It comes to the front page where it says Toshiba leading innovation. At the bottom the bar says Press F2 for System Utilities, or Press F12 for Boot Menu. The progress bar is a little over half way across. It freezes on that spot. I tried turning it off then on again, same results. F12 does nothing. I can click on F2 and it beeps, and says please wait, but nothing happens. So I shut it off and get back to the same point. Instead of clicking F2 I click escape. It goes to a screen with info on the computer and at the bottom it says to load setup defaults hit F2, again it does nothing. I know this is long winded but it has the facts. The computer is 5 years old. Can anyone help with this issue, please?

Re: My Toshiba won't start

Can you tell me the model and part number? They're on a label on the bottom.

Turn off your laptop, unplug all wires, remove the battery, and hold the power button for thirty seconds. Afterwards, reattach the battery and connections.
