Windows 7 driver for SD card reader

Why has Toshiba never released a Windows 7 driver for the SD card reader included with my P505-S8945? I have checked on their driver download page several times. They have one for Vista, but not for 7. I have read that the Vista driver destabilizes 7 and crashes it.

Re: Windows 7 driver for SD card reader

I haven't had any luck with what scans as a Ricoh unit in my A215.  Toshiba has drivers for Vista that do not work with 7, MS provides a driver via update that shows in device manager as having installed correctly but which leaves the unit with little/no functionality, and I had no luck lokking through Ricoh's support pages.

The unit in Toshiba's literature is listed as:

• 5-in-1 Bridge Media Adapter
o Secure Digital, Memory Stick™, Memory Stick PRO™, Multi
Media Card, xD Picture Card [shared slots]

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  To make matters worse, I'm battling a DMI issue where some Toshiba software is not recognizing my A215 as a Toshiba product.

Re: Windows 7 driver for SD card reader

I picked up a Ricoh card reader update from Microsoft via Windows Update this morning.  My card reader is now fully functional.

Still no luck with correcting the System Information showing my model as SB600 instead of Satellite A215 and manufacturer as TOSINV instead of Toshiba.  Anyone know if that information can be edited?
