Hello
I have a Toshiba satellite C655_S5061 with windows 7 64 bit SP1 installed on it. It has 4 GB RAM.
Strangely only 2 GB of RAM is visible, I confirmed this through BIOS, resource monitor and CPU-Z.
Will a BIOS update solve the problem or is that a memory module might have gone bad?

Power off the unit, unplug the AC & remove the battery, remove both RAM modules, replace one RAM module in a different slot, replace battery & AC, try to boot up again. Repeat this process until you have tried each RAM module alone in each slot. Keep careful note of which RAM module(s) and/or slot(s) is/are working.
You want to try to figure out if you have a bad module, a bad slot, or possibly something else, like maybe the RAM just needs to be reseated.
Please let us know what happens. Good luck.

After playing around with RAM modules and slots, my laptop shows 4GB of memory again!
Thanks.

Happy to help, no problem. Your RAM modules just likely needed to be reseated then.
Thanks for letting us know what worked.
