The Toshiba webcam application bar that is hiding on the side of the screen until the pointer touches it is driving me crazy. How can I completely hide that bar so that it only comes up when I actively seek it out in the start menu, programs folder, etc.?

Open the System Configuration utility (msconfig.exe) and uncheck the camera assistant software (probably CEC_MAIN) on the Startup tab.
