Problems with Yahoo Messenger 11

I have been repeatedly been trying to upgrade to Yahoo Messenger 11 on my Toshiba Satellite L657D.  I have not been able to make video or voice calls to anyone, even people who also have Messenger 11 and 10, which should work.  I have contacted Yahoo about this problem and after working with them for a couple of hours there was not resolution of the problem.  I also have another desktop (HP) and Messenger 11 works just fine there.  Both computers have the same firewall settings etc.  Both go through the same wireless router. ( Even with a direct connection to my cable modem, Messenger 11 on the Toshiba doesn't work)  If I down grade to Messenger 10 on the laptop everything works fine and I can make the calls.  Has anyone else had a problem like this or something similar?  Any ideas as to how to fix the problem.

I'm not familiar with the problem. Because it works in Messenger 10, at least you know it's not the hardware.
