I have learned, I believe, that the display drivers provided for the above mentioned portege model do not support HDMI switching. I have evidence to support my theory by booting into another OS, in this case, Ubunutu 12.04 and connecting an external display to the HDMI out and it works. But, when I am booted into XP Pro, I cannot get the laptop to output to the HDMI external screen. It's supposed to be auto-magic, but even using FN-F5 does not trigger output to the HDMI port.
Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know of a work around? Would Toshiba care to comment if there are any plans to upgrade the drivers for this model to support this OS on this hardware? I know XP is considered "dated", but it is also considerd by many to be the best option for a worst-case OS, so here we are....
