I've been trying to fix this for quite a while but no luck yet. My Toshiba turns on and the fan stays running but there is just a black screen. I tried hooking it up to an external monitor but no luck. I've tried the hold power button for 60 sec but it seems that I haven't been able to figure out what the problem is. I was considering that the problem may be the software but I can't take a look at what exactly is going on since the external monitor is not able to pick up a signal from the Toshiba. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Did you hold down the power button with the battery removed and AC disconnected?

Also, when the laptop is off but plugged into power, is the power LED with the picture of the cord lit up? When you press the power button, what happens to the on/off LED?
