As for books or widgets on the home screen just long press your finger on a book and drag it up and to the right, you should see an option to remove with a trashcan next to it, just hold and drag. As for the Toshiba blook place I haven't a clue, I never signed up for it. If you can download or buy a book you should have the option in the settings to remove it if you log in to the Book Place to manage your collections. If you're refereing to google books which also has a widget that displays its books on the home screen, then all you need do is log in to your google account and delete or edit your book collection like you would with songs or apps.
