System Recovery and Recovery Media

The laptop fell on floor and would not reboot. Tried doing a system recovery. It got to "testing system preformace" and kept rerunning it for a day. Would a set of recovery disks help?

It's possible, but it's also hard to know for sure. The hard drive itself might have been damaged as well; hard drives have physical, moving parts that could be damaged on impact.
