If it has a hard drive based recovery system you would normally start it by holding down the 0 (zero) key or the C key when powering on the laptop.  For information on system recovery utilities, Click the Windows Start button, then click Help and Support, and search for "system recovery utilities".

If there isn't a hard drive based recovery system then you'll need to find and use the orignal Recovery Disks that came with the computer, and yes they would have been in the box when it shipped from the factory.
