Restore to factory settings

I wanted to restore my laptop to the factory settings but I'm having trouble finding the right way. I have seen posts that say to click F8 while the computer is starting to get it to restore but the problem is that once I get to the option where it says system restore it will tell me that system restore wizard is already running and force me to exit the page. I don't have the recovery cd and the reason I'm trying to restore to factory settings is because vista no longer recognizes my disk drive. I have a Satellite A205-S5843.

Re: Restore to factory settings

you can try to uninstall the disc drive in device manager and then restart your laptop. this will have windows reinstall the correct drivers. if this doesnt work then hold zero during boot to start the recovery process.

Post all info about your laptop and version of windows. We are working on it but still do not have the powers to read your mind.

See the section Hard Disk Drive Recovery using the recovery partition starting on p. 61 of the User's Guide.
