help with hdd replacement in my satellite (I'm a novice)

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me?  I've got a satellite c850 but my hdd got messed up.  I'm wondering if I can replace it with the MK5065GFXN hdd I've got spare?  Would that work?  I apologise if this is a dumb question but thought it might be worth asking if it saves me shelling out again.

Thank you for your time and any help is much appreciated.

The part number of the drive doesn't tell me much.  What kind is is(manufacturer), is it a 2 1/2 inch drive and is it the same interface as your current drive(sata or ide)?

I found a MK5065GSX which is a 500gig Toshiba SATAII drive and is 2.5 inch.  If this is your drive it should work.  Did you make restore disks before your drive crashed?  If not you will have to buy the diskd from Toshiba.
