Sorry for not responding sooner. By responding to your own post, it appears it had an answer.

Can you give me the full model and part numbers of the computer?

Unfortunately, it sounds like it likely requires servicing. You should call customer support.

Re: U925t touch screen not working

Reading these messages and some in other forums, I have the feeling this is a recurrent and serious problem with this model.  I used mine (U925t 2300) for a year and a half without problem and suddenly the touch screen stopped working completely.  I used recovery media as a last resource but it didnt work.

Im  now stuck with a regular laptop. Shame.

Can Toshiba help us? Or is this an obsolete model after 2 years?

Unfortunately, if a problem like that persists after using recovery media to reset to factory default conditions, it usually does indicate a hardware failure that would require servicing.

Re: U925t touch screen not working

my laptop have the same problem and It started with win 8.1 update.

I think that toshiba must give us an effective solution for this issue. the actual solution don't solve anything: http://support.toshiba.com/support/viewContentDetail?contentId=4004239

I upgrade every single driver, I'm thinking that the solution is downgrade something but I don't know what

I belive that the win 8.1 instalation made something in the hardware.

1. Did you follow these instructions carefully?

How to Update from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1

2. Open Services (services.msc) and scroll down to the Human Interface Device Service. Is it started?

Re: U925t touch screen not working

Hello Jerry,

I restored the laptop to initial conditions (Windows 8.0), but the touchscreen still not working, then I follow all the recomendations but nothing.

I'm looking here a lot of customers with the same problem, and no one has said Hey my touchscreen, is working now!

Windows 8.1 makes a physical damage? it has no sense to me

If restoring the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents doesn't fix it, then we know the problem is due to hardware (or UEFI).

Service time.

Re: U925t touch screen not working

a known online shopping site

I quote:

There have been several cases just like mine where the touch screen breaks a few months after the laptop goes out of warranty. Mine broke about six months after I bought it.

When you open the screen you can see a ribbon cable that slides along the back of it. This is a FLXOL V2 ribbon cable. What happens is the cable breaks at the fold just inside the screen's back cover. In my case, the whole cable didn't break, just the part on the end. The only way I've found to get a replacement cable is to send my laptop in for repair.

According to Toshiba's own website it will cost me over $250 for a "Minor Repair." https://www.toshibarepairservices.com/WebRma/PriceList.aspx?OpenAccess=

My largest fear is that the cable will break further and I'll have a large and very expensive brick.

Re: U925t touch screen not working

After a long search, I realized that there are some problems with the upgrade to Windows 8.1 and that in the case of the touch screen, the issue has to do with the controller human interface device, which has not been updated by the company to be supported.

Additionally, the U925t-SP2101L model is not displayed on the website which allows you to update the drivers. It seems that has only been marketed in three countries in Latin America.

I have communicated with service authorized in Colombia, as indicated by the company since 2013, and the solution to the problem is to take the team to the initial configuration or expect an update to correct the problem by Microsoft.

On the page of Microsoft say that updating drivers is the responsibility of the manufacturers.

The laptop is very good, but Toshiba and Microsoft has left us adrift without an effective response so far, in what appears to be elementary.

I hope some of them will soon release a driver that solves the problem and regain confidence in their products.
