I have seen this question asked in the forums but I have not seen it answered, so I need to ask again.
I have a Satellite L500 Part # PSLU9U-04U00D. I am trying to determine the Model Number.
The Toshiba website lists:
I have used Control Panel/System and Security/System
Start/Programs/Toshiba/Utilities/PC DIagnostic Tool
But none of these utilities tell me the ST number.
This computer was purchased directly from Toshiba.com for use in the United States.
Can anyone help?
The reason I'm looking for this information is because I would like to know if I can upgrade the RAM to 8GB, I currently have 4GB installed.
Message to Toshiba..... it really shouldn't be so difficult to find this information!

Flip your laptop over. You will see the part number and serial number on a gray sticker. above it will say the model number.

I hate to be a pest, but I have looked at the label and I assure you that the model number is not written on the outside of this machine.
I have attached a picture of this label in the hopes that someone can point it out to me.

Your support page is here.
Your computer doesn't actually have the second part to the model number. I'm guessing you customized it when you ordered it, correct? Customized computers won't have that second part to the model number.

If you tell me your CPU and Chipset, I can tell you the Max RAM for your system.

You can run a max of 8GB 1066Mhz DDR3 RAM

I installed to Kingston 4GB RAM Chips, turned it on and it worked. The easiest install I've ever done.
Thank you for your help.
BTW. I called Toshiba support and was told my system used DDR2 memory.

Wow, did they ask what chipset and CPU you were running? They should have known that the i5 in your system uses DDR3.
No problem, glad I could help.

I've got the same question about how much memory and what type. My Satellite L500 also has no sub-model number.
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 430 @ 2.27GHz
Chipset: Intel Havendale/Clarkdale Host Bridge rev. 02
Currently has 2GB. Not sure if that's a single 2GB stick, or 2x1GB stick. How high can I go on this?

You can run a max of 8GB 1066Mhz DDR3 RAM as well. The limitation of RAM amount and speed is determined by the CPU.
