I recently purchased a used Toshiba Satellite A665-S5170 laptop. It had a big crack at the bottom base, the LCD screen was also damaged and the DVD drive. I fixed the bottom base and the LCD screen, I ordered new ones from Toshiba. Now when I turn on the laptop the first thing I get is a box to enter a password, there is no option to hit F2 to enter BIOS Setup or F12 to change the boot order, that password comes first and without it the computer is useless. I called Toshiba Tech Support and they said that I would have to send it in and pay a fee of about $100.00 for them to erase that BIOS password. Can anyone here help me with this problem?.

Ok, I just figured it out myself. To reset a BIOS password in a Toshiba Satellite A665-S5170 laptop all you have to do is open the memory compartment, remove the memory sticks, then you will see a big piece of clear tape covering the bottom of the memory slots. This clear tape has some stickers with bar codes and numbers. Just carefully remove the tape, and you will see JCMOS right next to two flat copper contacts on the motherboard. Just get a set of tweezers and touch both contacts at the same time for few seconds. Replace the memory sticks, close the memory compartment, replace the battery, and turn on the laptop. I did this and the laptop booted up with no problems to Windows 7. When I called Toshiba earlier today, the guy told me I had to send the laptop in and the fee to reset the password was about $100.00, what I way of ripping off people. This took me less that three minutes.

Thanks Aguilabrava!
Your solution worked perfectly on my client's Toshiba Satellite A665-S6070.
For those of you who are scared, don't be it's really easy.

This can also work for the Toshiba C655D-S5130...

I did exactly what was mentioned using a CAT5 cable which was stripped 4-5 inches long and then look for the B500 Jumper (where the memry sticks are). Watch the video and do exactly what the tech does in the video. And Voila!!

Try removing the big battery and the CMOS battery for about 5 minutes, reinstalling them, and rebooting. You should be good to go...
