Toshiba laptop Satellite A205 and purchased a new sata hard drive and am installing (downgrading to) WinXP Pro SP2. I have been reading and many of the links are from 2008 and feel I need some help here and hope to save a little time.
I believe I need to slipstream the sata controller driver info before installing xp (presently doesn't recon HD) so I have downloaded "nLite-1.4.9.1.installer.exe" and a file from Toshiba "driver_chipset_intel_25916A.exe" and would like to know if I'm on the right track.
Many thanks for any help...

Satellite A205-S5814 (PSAF3U-0P900V)
I'm sorry, Dave, I can't help you with that one. I can't find XP drivers for the PSAF3x part-number family.

There is no Short Model No. PSAF3E in the Satellite A200 series there. Take a look.
You may be able to locate suitable drivers one at a time. But it could take weeks. And what about the utilities?
I'd stick with Vista, which got a bad rap in my opinion. I'm using it to make this message.

Vista .......a big No - I've been doing lots of reading
Anyway I have XP up and running on my A205
In USA its a A205 PSAF3U, in UK its a A200 PSAEU.

Use the (e) option (notebooks which works for most A205's)
Using nLite worked like a charm.
or from UK

Nice that it worked out for you, Dave.
Vista .......a big No - I've been doing lots of reading
We've got lots of Vista machines running here with no issues. The Geeks need something to complain about.
For that matter, I've got Windows 3.1, NT 4.0, and 2000 in my network. We don't find XP to be better than 2K and it's much heavier.
