Storage
1 Terabyte Harddrive (500GBx2) speed 5400 RPM
my question is can my laptop be upgreaded with
16GB Ram (8GBx2) speed 1333

and another big and important question is some people said that the Laptop supports 3 SSD's is that true and how
Please answer with proof and facts, because I am looking forward to upgraded my Laptop thanks in advance to all replies

You need to provide the full model of your system. It's impossible to tell you how much RAM you can handle without knowing the model number, so we know what processor the system is running.
Also, if you are currently running 2 hard drives, then you can replace them with 2 SSD drives.

The 720QM processor can handle a max of 8GB 1333Mhz RAM(this is the official Intel spec, but in truth, it can handle 16GB). The Intel 520 SSD's claim to be backwards compatible on their web site, so they should work with your system.

I have another question, what SATA type is the one installed in my qosmio x500 11G, is it SATA 2 or 3
and if you know any way through windows to be able to show all these details (and extreme detailed of all the components in the Laptop that even shows all the versions and models of the components) .
Thanks for you assistance in advance

I need to know the SATA connector is a type 2 or 3 and if it is a SATA 3 is it sporting 3 GB/s or 6 GB/s
and what speed is the eSata connector,
I know I asked a lot, I want to know because I don't want to make a mistake , because after I upgread my laptop I am going to upgread another 5 laptops same model as min that are for my class mates and my instructors laptop.
That's why a lot of detail is needed.
Thanks in advance once again

Your Qosmio is SATA-II [3 gb/s]; PM55 chipset.
The first SATA-III machines debuted January 2011, and came with the 2nd generation i-core, Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs [like the Qosmio I have]; SATA-III requires HM65 chipset or higher.
However, since SATA-III [6gb/s] is backwards compatible, it will still work on a SATA-II machine at SATA-II speeds.
As for the eSATA, I would guess to say it is also SATA-II, considering it uses SATA technology.
Good luck

I have Upgreaded my HDD to an SSD the intel 520 series 240 GB,
it is working Great ![]()
I know that its not at its Max Speed but it is at the Laptops Max Speed,
Boosted as from turning on the Laptop and Loging in with all Startup programs fully loaded it was 20 min befor and now after installing the SSD it became only a max of 1 min and 48 seconds XD
I love this killing Speed
my question is now I am downloading the drivers again becouse the cloneing the Partitions worked but I have some problems with the drivers best example is located in the dxdiag
my Hardwares are not available, look at the image to get clearified.
plus even in the mycomputer properties it is not available again,
please tell me what to do to fix this,
if I need to download the drivers please supply me the link and if there are any bio's update and so becouse the one in the website I cant find my modle and the ones that are on the website are not being installed.
thanks in advance
my 3D modeling software tells me that I need a supported VGA as it is not detected by dxdiag and my computer properties, else than that in the resolution properties in advanced mode it is detected

the one in the website I cant find my modle
It's because this site is for US computers.
The drivers and other downloads for your European model are here.
06-14-2012 02:52 PM
I will check the drivers, but do you know what cosed my VGA and RAM and Processor and BIOS to not be recognised?
06-14-2012 03:11 PM
If you installed Windows clean, that's not surprising to me. Best to restore the SSD to the original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media.
If you neglected to create the media, order it from Toshiba.
Toshiba Europe Backup Media Online Shop
See the sections on restoring pre-installed software in the User's Manual (attached).
If you want to upgrade Windows, do it this way.
Upgrade to another edition of Windows 7 by using Windows Anytime Upgrade

Do I understand you refuse to restore the SSD to the original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media?
06-18-2012 12:41 PM
I think you miss understood me, I got a new SSD intel 520 with (240 GB) Capacity
I cloned my data from my old 500GB HDD speed 5400 RPM to the SSD intel 520 (240 GB)
now every data has been copied correctly and fully,
but my concern is that now my drives are messed up I think,
because in the dxdiag the
BIOS
Processor
Videocard
are all n/a as not available
System tab
they are detected as
Processor n/a 8 CPU's
System manufacturer n/a
System Model n/a
display tab
they are detected as
manufacturer n/a
Chip type n/a
DAC type n/a
the above postes have the full information list please review it to get more detail
and the 3 attachments are screenshots to show you them exactly please check them
my whole concern is that OK everything is running normal
those components are not visible
but the most important is that my VGA is the most impotant part to be defined,
I have downloaded all the drivers of the Laptop from the Toshiba direct Europe site the one given above thanks for the help in that one ![]()
but for the VGA
now there is an update OK
now when updating the VGA it keeps failing
plus I need the full installation of the VGA which this update supports but it is not getting accepted,
I am attaching a screenshot to show u what I mean
1st one is from the controlpanel to show u that i know there are atleast the physix and another 2 or 3 components missing, plus
the 2nd one is the Window of the NVIDIA driver update version 301.42
failing to install
please help me get this disaster fixed,
I use this laptop for animation studies not for gaming,
the VideoCard
Processor
RAM
are all essential for my work to render.
I am not refusing to restore once again the SSD is an empty drive I cloned the Primary drive of my Laptop to it and then swapped the HDD to the SDD
So I had
Primary HDD 2 partitions (1st Partition is the C drive OS 2nd Partition is Drive E Data drive)
Secondary HDD 1 Partition Data drive Partition D
the division is factory default
now after installing the SSD
I have
Primary HDD 2 partitions (1st Partition is the C drive OS 2nd Partition is Drive E Data drive) Secondary HDD 1 Partition Data drive Partition D
so the same ok nothing is changed
I need to know why this happened and I need a solution
because I am soon getting another 3PC's
and 2 Laptops and I might also upgraded them so I need a solution to avoied any future complications.
Thanks in advance and I apologies if I sounded like attacking for an answer but I have been serchinf for an answer for almost a month even before I post the issue on this blog.
Thanks for the support once again because you reply faster than any other tech blog I utilized.

Sorry, I can't tell you what went wrong.
(I've often had bad luck cloning. I always now create a backup image and restore it to the new drive.)

Thanks for your quick reply Jerry, I hope some one can find this answer soon, in the meen time if you can tell me how you took an image and put it to the SSD I will appreciate it,
tell me a step by step process if its not much to ask so I don't end up making a mistake,
my whole concern is I want everything to work fine ![]()
I will still experiment and will keep on searching for an answer and when I do I will share it with as much people I know because I don't want them to experience this setback.
I am always looking for that component or tech issue to get it solved and push the UNIT Beyond its Max limit
without overclocking

I am still open for fixes and suggestions and focuses answers with solutions ![]()

I have never used an SSD. Why would it matter whether the replacement drive is hard or soft?
When I swap in a new drive, I use the same backup images we create every day to restore to the replacement.
A Windows 7 image will work.
We use third-party applications, like these.
