PCI memory controller

Hello,

My computer is a Qosmio F45-AV412. I have recently upgraded from Windows Vista Ultimate (32) to Windows 7 Ultimate (32); ever since, upon computer startup I get the message DEVICE DRIVER WAS NOT SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED and the driver is always the same: PCI memory controller.

I searched for it on the Toshiba site but no luck. Can anyone help, please?

Thanks.

Re: PCI memory controller

I installed the TI Reader Card Driver but it didn't solve the problem:  I still get the message about the PCI memory controller.

Thanks, anyway.

Re: PCI memory controller

What can you learn from Device Manager (devmgmt.msc)?

Do all the devices function properly?

Re: PCI memory controller

Yes, they do. Even for the PCI memory controller the device manager reports that THIS DEVICE IS WORKING PROPERLY.

Re: PCI memory controller

In that case, let's figure out how to turn off the message.

You can probably do this with Msconfig..

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

..but I much prefer Autoruns.

   Autoruns for Windows

Either way, you'll need to experiment by blocking items that start automatically with Windows.

Thanks, Jerry, for the suggestions.  I'll go for the Autoruns.

[ Edited ]

I know this is an older one.  My boss has been getting the exact same error when he boots his computer.  He has a Toshiba X205-s9349 upgraded from Vista to 7.  When he boots it tell him that something is installing, then that it failed, and that it was the PCI memory controller.  In device manager everything appears to be fine.  I don't want to go back and tell him to just turn off the message because he is going to ask me why the message is coming up.  So is everything fine?  If so why is the message coming up?  Which driver can I upgrade/update to make this message go away.
