Wireless capability is turned off

hi, I'm having a problem with network connectivity on my new Toshiba netbook NB300 PLL3EA-002007. It has internet connection when plugged in, but to move around to a different room, I can't work out how to connect wirelessly. The diagnostic troubleshooting says:

Wireless capability is turned off.

Detailed root cause: Radio is off (HW switch) Repair option: Turn on wireless capability Use the switch on the front or side of the computer, or function keys if available, to enable wireless capability on this computer.

I can't see any switches on front or side of computer to turn this connection on, and have tried to press F8 with the Fn key which has a picture which I think is the wireless switch, but it's not illuminating the corresponding picture light on the front edge of the laptop. I'm not sure if the key is not working, or if there's an additional key I'm meant to press in conjunction with Fn and F8. Does anyone know? Thanks. Sharon
