Limited Access to Internet Satellite A660D

Limited Access to Internet, (Satellite A660D, windows 7).

Will not connect to wifi or wired connection to router.

When I check Device Manager > Network Adapters, I have two options > Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter, and > Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller.

There is no "wireless card" ...
Can anyone help point me toward the right direction to fix this issue please?

Re: Limited Access to Internet Satellite A660D

yeah sorry A660D - ST2G02

I called the customer service and they most they could tell me without charging was that some settings have been changed somewhere. I had internet yesterday, then I tried to uninstall my Ad-aware antivirus because it was not opening or responding when I tried to open it. Then I got the "must restart to finish" so I did, then a blue screen popped up and said "if this is the first time you have seen this screen then just restart" it was the first time so I was gonna let it finish, then before I could finish reading it went through with the restart. Ever since then Ive been stuck at Limited Access. Oh, and now my ad-aware works completely fine... Im so lost lol.

Thanks again

Sean, let's use the wired connection only for all this. Plug it directly into the modem (bypass the router) if possible.

Recycle power on the router (the combination if they are in one box), reboot, and try again.

Show us pictures of any messages. Check in Device Manager (devmgmt.msc) under Network adapters too.

Please attach the corresponding *.dmp file from the C:\Windows\Minidump folder.

Re: Limited Access to Internet Satellite A660D

I attemped to connect straight to the modem, I believe I had all the right ethernets in the right places, and nothing showed up for connections. I had to re connect the wifi to use this computer... I attached the only file that was in my minidump folder.

What does that mean? You said neither WiFi nor cable would connect.

You didn't tell us about Device Manager under Network adapters.

Re: Limited Access to Internet Satellite A660D

My laptop wont connect past limited access using wifi or connected by ethernet to modem. I just meant that in order to view the forums, which are online, I had to re-connect the wifi so this computer, which Im using to get online, would be able to go online... I said in my first post what network adapters I have listed.

Broadcom 802. 11n Network Adapter  : Version 5.60.48.35  updated 1/21/2010

&

Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller  : Version 7.17.304.2012 updated 3/4/2010

I would love to think this fix is as easy as updating my drivers, but I am having a difficult time figuring out which drivers to download.

I would like the system restore option to be a last resort type option, although I do have all my important data backed up.

Sean, we are not talking about Toshiba's system restore, which restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media.

Microsoft's System Restore does not interfere with either data or applications. (When you restore back to before installing an application, however, you would need to reinstall it.)

Basically, it restores only the registry and system (Windows) files.

You can trust me that it's the best bet right now.

Good for you! My guess is that there was some registry corruption.
