Ethernet Adapter Missing???

Hi, I am a Toshiba user and for some reason there is no ethernet adapter (or driver) in my computer, therefore I cannot connect to the internet through ethernet cable. However, my wireless adapter is preinstalled in my laptop and it is working perfectly. Although, I need to use the ethernet cable for my workspace because I use this laptop very often. Any ideas on how I can obtain this driver? Adapter?

Specs:

C655-S5126 Toshiba Black Laptop

Windows 7 (pre-installed)

Re: Ethernet Adapter Missing???

There is no C655-S5126 in Toshiba records.  I assume it's probably a C655D-S5126.  There is an Atheros LAN Driver for your machine.  I assume that's it but some confirmation from you would be helpful that the Atheros driver is the one you need--usually listed in Device Manager under Network Adapters.  See if the listing is still there. If there is no LAN adapter listed, give this one a try.

Re: Ethernet Adapter Missing???

I notice you marked my last post as Solving your problem but you still had a question about Device Manager.  Type Device in the Start/Search box, click on Device Manager, double click on Network Adapters and you should have a wireless adapter listed there and also a LAN adapter that may be called Family Controller which is the one that should be an Atheros. Right click it and it should tell you whether or not it is working properly.

Re: Ethernet Adapter Missing???

I hope this thread is still being monitored. I have the same issue with a brand new P855-S5102. The only adapter that shows up in "Network & Sharing" is WiFi. In Device Manager is WiFi plus "Microsoft Kernel Debug Network Adapter" whatever the he** that is. If I try to add a new device, the RJ45 can't be found.

HELP???

Thanx
