The mouse on the touchpad has disappeared. I can only use the wireless mouse. How can this be fixed?

Turn the TouchPad back on by toggling FN+F9 on most Toshiba laptops and many models have a small on'off switch located between the TouchPad and the Space Bar in the Keyboard bezel. Look very closely because it is small, recessed and the same color as the keyboard. It is a push on/push off switch. Since you have a wireless mouse, go to Control Panel, Mouse, Device Settings and clear the box that says "Disable internal pointing device when a USB pointing device is attached".
If you have occasion to post back here, include your COMPLETE model info as in my examples below.

I have a Toshiba L555-7910 which i've upgraded from win7 to win8. The touchpad disable/enable option disappeared in the control panel. The touchpad isn't even listed any more. Apparently Win8 upgrade wiped this out. Anyway to turn off touchpad (very annoying while typing).

There is no U.S. model L555-7910. Did you mean L555D-S7910? If so, that model is not supported for upgrade to Windows 8 so I'm not surprised that a few things aren't working correctly. Have you tried FN+F9 to toggle the TouchPad? Some models also have a TouchPad on/off switch located between the TouchPad and the Space Bar in the Keyboard bezel that toggles the TouchPad on/off.
