Re: L675 Keyboard misses letters when typing or is generally slow

I received the FedEx mailer to send my laptop to Toshiba to replace the keyboard. It will take 10 business days before I receive it. Anyone know if this will fix the problem or should I have an external keyboard attached for when the laptop keyboard goes out again? Please help!

And are they having the same keyboard problem on the L775?

Re: L675 Keyboard misses letters when typing or is generally slow

The fix works for about 2 weeks and then slowly, the computer starts to miss letters or spaces and adding duplicated letters. Seems to esp have trouble with the letter "e".

It is extremely bothersome considering this is a brand new computer.

Also having trouble with the computer "losing" or not recognizing printers so I have to keep reinstalling.  Boo...

Re: L675 Keyboard misses letters when typing or is generally slow

I wish not to be the bearer of bad tidings, but this problem has been ongoing since last summer. Though a fix has been provided for the L675-OOX, weirdly enough, other machines are being massed produced with the same problem. I am more than suspicious that this is a problem that Toshiba is just NOT addressing.

I've asked if the latest model, the L775 is coming out with the same problems, but obviously no one on this board has a clue as to that question.

I've had 5 Toshiba's in the past, but this is fast turning me away from them on my next purchase.

Re: L675 Keyboard misses letters when typing or is generally slow

Folks, the topic of this thread was definitively resolved long ago with a BIOS update for the L675. I'm going to lock this thread to prevent further posts to it.

If you're experiencing a similar keyboard problem please start a new topic and describe it in detail so that it can be reviewed by the troubleshooting experts here as an issue unto itself. It's pretty unlikely to have the same cause as the issue resolved in this thread.

If you're experiencing the same symptom AND the following procedure is an effective workaround then create a new topic with all your details and stating that this workaround works. In that case, please also send me a Private Message bringing it to my attention.

Workaround Procedure

  1. Press then release the 'Fn' key
  2. Press then release the 'N' key
  3. Press then release the '1' key

That's it. If you continue to experience the same problem after entering this key sequence then the problem has a different cause, with the highest likelihood being a bad keyboard.

If the above workaround is effective for you, click here to send me a Private Message.
