I attached the Canvio external hard drive and set it up. The first time I re-started the computer the monitor screen showed Missing Operating System_ . I was dead in the water until I happened to click Control Alt Delete which got me to the windows screen. The computer is backing up to the external hard drive fine enough, but any ideas on how I can remedy this?

Sounds like the boot priority order in your BIOS needs adjusting.

Probably this works to reach the BIOS Setup, Scott.
Turn off the computer and wait five seconds. Turn on the computer. When the first screen displays, press the F10 key repeatedly, about once every second, until the Computer Setup program opens.
If F10 doesn't work, try the Esc key instead.
The Storage menu should have the boot order. Probably it looks something like this.
Go here for much more.

I am currently having the same problem '' Missing Operating System '' while booting my computer on the external hard drive. I tried to boot it puting USB last in the order and Windows simply starts normally without any restore menu.
Is there any way to reach the restore setup page and restoring my files on my PC?
I am using a notebook with Win7 64-bit home premium.
Here is my external hard drive model #: HDWC120XK3J1
If, in any case there is another information you need, do not hesitate.
