I hope I am posting this in the right place, it's my first post so please be gentle.
I have a Toshiba Satellite L300 laptop, I bought it about 3 years ago and it has done the job, HOWEVER I now find myself wanting to hook it up to my HDTV and find it has no HDMI port, I have been online and others say use the VGA port instead, but alas it doesn't have this either.
I have a lot of movies saved on my external Seagate HD and I wanted to use the laptop to play the movies via same onto the TV. Should I just forget the whole thing or is there a workaround that is not too technical as I am no geek? I am in the UK BTW.
Thank you in advance.

Which Satellite L300?
The model number looks something like Satellite L300-11C and the part number looks like PSLB0E-02301UKS.
There should be a label on the bottom.

So is this the same as a VGA?
Yes. But your TV may not have a monitor input.
Can you give us the full make and model of the TV?
