Recently, my laptop (Toshiba L505) wasn't booting up. It would turn on and then start to load but, before it went to the page for me to enter my password, it went to a black screen with a flashing cursor in the corner instead.
A couple of days ago, I went to my school's tech department, and the issue was fixed. They had to clear my hard drive and reinstall Windows (at least that's what I got when the tech person explained it to me).
When I turn on my laptop, it takes a very long time to load and start up (longer than it ever has before). Also, when booting up, the screen flickers a bit and at one point I even saw the black screen with the cursor for just a second. It is still booting up and working, though.
One of my friend's suggested that it might be a problem with the hard drive, and that if it crashes again, I may need a new one. Do you think that's the case? I'd rather just buy a hard drive (well, he said they were like $50ish) instead of a new laptop.
