i've discovered i'm not the only one with this problem but i do need a personal solution. i think the origin of this situation is from almost a year ago when i had a serious virus in my computer. i took it to a repair shop and they rebooted the system with microsoft security essentials and windows 7 and everything turned out fine except i no longer had that sidebar where i could access the webcam. now, i've looked through the devices and i can see under imaging devices that the chicony usb 2.0 is installed and enabled and working properly, and i can use the camera through skype, but i have no other way to access it in order to take pictures or whatever else. just wondering if someone might be able to help out with that...

Start/All Programs/Toshiba/Utilities/Web Camera Application and then the sidebar camera controls should be available to you if you hover your mouse near the left side of the screen.

You're the first Toshiba owner I ever heard of that didn't! Lacking that, I can't think of another way to activate the WebCam.

I would certainly try the uninstall/install but I believe all you might have is exactly what you have now. It certainly can't hurt.
