TosIPCSrv.exe stopped working and was closed

I have a Satellite L305-S5921 running Vista.

Every time I restart computer and log on I get a pop-up message:

"TosIPCSrv.exe stopped working and was closed.  A problem caused

the application to stop working correctly."

On the web this is identified as a Toshiba utility.  I went into the

control panel and indicated the service should re-start on failure,

but I still get the message.  How do I correct this?

That program is apparently here.

   C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\SMARTLogService\TosIPCSrv.exe

It looks like it's probably a Service related to the S.M.A.R.T. application, which monitors the hard disk performance.

Let's try to learn more. Make a note of the exact computer-clock time of the message. Open Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc) and expand Windows Logs. Inspect the Application and System logs for an Error event at that exact time.

Don't try to copy anything manually from there. Double-click the entry and click the Copy button. That will put the event's details on your clipboard. Paste it without editing into your reply - except we want only what's above the line Event Xml:.

Jerry, I was the original poster of this problem.  I apologize for not answering your first request for more info.  I was out of the country.  I am attaching my attempt at the info you are requesting:

Event ID:      1000
Task Category: (100)

Faulting application TosIPCSrv.exe, version 1.0.0.1, time stamp 0x4753b866, faulting module TosIPCSrv.exe, version 1.0.0.1, time stamp 0x4753b866, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000027a8, process id 0x954, application start time 0x01cc72cbe2a1c549.

Is that the information you need?  Thanks.

Re: TosIPCSrv.exe stopped working and was closed

Event Viewer doesn't help much. The Toshiba SMART application is apparently misbehaving, but I don't see it listed as a download.

You can turn off the message by opening the System Configuration utility (msconfig.exe) and unchecking the corresponding item on its Startup tab.

That took care of the message on startup.  Thanks.
