It works fine on my newer Windows 7 Toshiba laptop (which I use as a desktop replacement), but I'm having problems with some older Windows XP / SP2 desktop systems (which I also have).

There is no software to install for this USB external drive. It's all in Windows XP.
Sometimes this helps. Open Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc) and click Rescan Disks on the Action menu.

It didn't work on either XP system.
It originally worked on System "A" (at least as a backup) until I replaced the hard drive and it doesn't work on System "B".
