Direct2d/DirectWrite in Firefox blocked

Firefox tells me I need version 10.6 or newer for my graphics driver to use Direct2D and DirectWrite or WebGL. I have a Satellite C655D-S5136, and there is no update available from Toshiba. AMD's site says not to use their updated drivers with Toshiba, Sony, etc. There's no problem that I can see in using Firefox all around the Internet, but is there anyway to upgrade to get faster graphics? Thanks for any help.

Re: Direct2d/DirectWrite in Firefox blocked

There's only one display driver available from Toshiba at this time for that model.

AMD Display Driver(03-23-2010; 129.16M)

When does Firefox tell you it needs this? Are doing something specific, or will it not run at all? You might try updating Firefox as well.

Re: Direct2d/DirectWrite in Firefox blocked

Firefox doesn't tell me that I need it, only that the driver will not take advantage of Direct2D and DirectWrite. It's on the Troubleshooting information under the Help tab. I have found that AMD has updated drivers for the 4200 HD chipset but it specifically says not for Toshiba (Acer, Sony and some other laptops). Thanks.
