Hi everyone!

I have a Canvio Plus Portable Hard Drive, 750Gb, very good one.

Accidentaly, I erased the folder "Autorun" where came the pre-installed software of my Canvio. As result, every time I plug-in my Canvio, it appears another icon (not the Canvio's one), and I have only the folder "NTI", the .txt file "Autorun" and the .exe file "Setup". The "Autorun" folder, where I had the Canvio icon and the other installer is completely lost.

¿Does someone know if I can recover completely the folder thar I erased from internet, or if I need to re-install all the software? I'm really worried!

About your suggestion, the problem is that I erased the folder completely (Shift+SUPR), besides the laptop where I did so is not my laptop (in fact, it is in other country now). So, that's why I am so worried about that.

I'll be waiting for more suggestions. Thanks!

Well, I didn't make the restore DVD, because I never imagine that such thing could happen. That's why I'm looking for a solution in the forum.

So, Jean (or anybody else): Do you know if I can get from Internet the software that I erased , or if it can be send by e-mail from anybody? In the first post I wrote the name of the software that I need.

You don't need any extra software to use an external drive, Oscar. I always reformat those when I get them and use my own backup program.

In any case, you won't get it back by restoring the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media because it came with the new drive - not with your computer.

Which version of Windows do you have? Which computer?

Hi Jerry, thanks for replying.

I have Windows XP SP3, AMD Athlon 64 x2 2.20 GHz, 2Gb RAM.

I haven't try to recover the software from the hard disk, because I know that is impossible. I want to know if as Toshiba's customer I can get at least the original icon of my Canvio from some page of Internet, or if any other person who has this software could send it to me by mail.

Your best bet is probably Toshiba's customer service for hard disks.

Oscar, hello.

I was just looking at the page on the Web pertaining to this Canvio HD of yours. I surmise that you do not need that programme that you erased on it. Use it as we all do, a dumb USB HD, together with Acronis. Sure, that erased programme to you was free and you might need to purchase Acronis. You can get around a cost item by getting a free one as mentioned here often enough.  Macrium, I think it is called.  I use any USB HD as is, with Acronis myself. These two apps are quite easy to use and it will just be as easy to use at whaterver came on the Canvio from Toshiba. Not much lost, just a bit sad as it was free to you.
