I've been experiencing a problem with the media keys on my P305-S8834 laptop running vista 64. The computer will shut down completely, but the media key lights remain on. They will go off when I start and shut down the computer a couple of times. This problem is recent. Up to about two weeks ago the shutdown was normal. Appreciate any help with this.

Media key problems like that are sometimes solved by resetting the motherboard.
With the battery and AC adapter removed, close the Power switch for 30 seconds.
Re-attach those, press the Power button to turn the computer on, and then immediately press the F2 key while the Toshiba logo is displayed. Press F9 to restore the BIOS default settings, press F10, and then select Yes (Exit Saving Changes). The computer will restart.

Thank you very much for this solution! It appears to have worked and the media key lights turn off when the computer is shut down. Thanks again.

You're welcome. Glad it worked. And thank you for letting us know the outcome.

Whilst this does work tempoarily, my p305d has this problem repeatedly, I've reinstalled tvap numerous times to no avail. I seem to remember a BIOS update, not long after release of this model, that was meant to address this issue. I most likely think its either a bios or driver probelm as it worked fine for about a year before going into a tizzy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Running windows 7 from a clean instal and followed toshiba's recommended procedure for this upgrade

Hardware Radio Switch Off
I am so disappointed with Toshiba customer support. I called because I could no longer connect by wireless due to the error message "Hardware Radio Switch Off." My computer is less than a year old and still under warrantee. I was told that I needed to pay $69.00 to repair this error because the warrantee only covers hardware problems. I politely told the tech no thanks. After about an hour of trying different techniques, I finally typed tbswireless in the search bar and a wireless incon popped up. I clicked on the icon and the wireless switch was turned on!
My next purchase will not be a Toshiba!
