As of lately I've been receiving blue screens with errors regarding display diver failure (almost positive that's the only error) generally during video playback or while using visual studio 2010. I have disabled hardware acceleration in VS2010 and have installed the proprietary AMD drivers from the Toshiba website (I think it was the right model). Im curious as to what else I can try. I tried both standard AMD drivers and the proprietary drivers with the same result. HELP!
I will append this post with the error code upon the next crash.
Thanks in advance.

Which Tecra R850? See the label on the bottom.

Please attach the corresponding *.dmp file from the C:\Windows\Minidump folder.

part no. pt520u-0fu03n
doesnt have anything past "Tecra R850" for model.
Hope this helps.
And if I may ask a question a bit on a tangent, how often does Toshiba release driver updates? i feel like this driver is getting outdated considering AMD has released new drivers for the same hardware... According to their driver checking software.

Tecra R850 (PT520U-0FU03N)
That model would use the same downloads as another in the same part-number family (PT520U). These, for instance.
Tecra R850-ST8501 (PT520U-012001), whose downloads are here.
Tecra R850-ST8502 (PT520U-01203N), whose downloads are here.
You get that part-number situation for special orders from ToshibaDirect and for some big-box-store models.
So far as driver updates are concerned, don't expect much if anything. So far as I know, Toshiba releases new drivers only to fix bugs. You are better off sticking with those issued by Toshiba though.
Bug Check 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR
Caused By Driver : dxgkrnl.sys
It's in your video, as you suspected. About all you can do is reinstall drivers from the above sites. I would do the chipset software as well.

Hmm, you may need to reinstall your OS. Sometimes this can be the only way of fixing these sorts of conflicts. just get a snapshot of your installed programs and backup any important docs.
