Satellite L505 Not Recognizing Disks

I am using Windows 7 and my computer is unable to recognize anything I put into the Dvd drive.  When I insert a disk (which is recognized by other computers) nothing shows up in "My Computer" and the drive makes noises as if something is moving back and forth and never "spins" up like any other computer will.

Re: Satellite L505 Not Recognizing Disks

Windows may recognize the DVD drive correctly and think it has the correct driver, but the DVD drive could be out of alignment or out of speed tolerance too. Try different disks on the drive and see if you get the same results. Open the DVD drive and check for dirt, dust and damage. I have seen small kids stick stuff in the drives too. After all that, if the drive still doesn't work, it's time to call the Call Center, 800-457-7777, and arrange to have the computer serviced.
