I have this brand new never worked since new laptop. I have tried restoring back to factory from partition and also tried installing windows 7 from disc and it fails everytime when expanding files to a black screen. I have even swappped the hard drive and does the same thing after a few minutes. I tried hooking it up to external monitor and same thing. I even updated the bios to 1.70. The fan is working and it seemed to work longer in safe mode. I was wondering if the ram could be bad causing this ? It is no longer under warranty and was returned to toshiba once after two weeks after new for same problem and it was not fixed. Any ideas ???? Thanks

Ok so I tried new ram, no luck. I tried one stick at a time, no luck. I did manage to install xp pro on it and it works fine. Why would xp load on it and not windows 7 ? Thanks

If it didn't work when it was brand new, it should have been exchanged. At this point, it sounds like it requires servicing.

When it was bought it was used for 2 weeks and then it had a problem so tried restoring from partition and never worked again. It was sent to Toshiba they claimed they replaced hard drive ( atleast thats what best buy said ) and it never worked again and sat in closet till now and yes its out of warranty. Why would xp install fine and work all day but windows 7 home premiuim never gets past expanding files and then black screen. I even tried windows 7 ultimate and same thing. It is obviously a windows 7 problem. Is there a driver I need to load before installation ? I tried AHCI and compatability mode and same results. I have been searching for days now for a fix. Thanks
