BDX2400 lost the NETFLIX app

My BDX2400 has stopped showing the Netflix icon in its portal. I suspect this has started with an auto update some weeks ago.

Now come the odd part: If I, after discovering netflix is missing, go back to the menus and look around, not changing anything. and then go back to the portal, I am sometimes lucky to get the Netflix icon back.

Also worth of noticing, the portal almost always asks me to go through its setup dialog where it among other things ask me to accept the end user agreements - like it forgets to save its "configuration"

Ah yes, I own two identical BDX2400 boxes, both are showing the same symptoms.

Thanks for the reports. I'll look into it. In the meantime, ensure your players are fully up-to-date.

Re: BDX2400 lost the NETFLIX app

Hi Peter

I've also logged this issue with support.  the BBC iPlayer has also vanished from the portal, so we have no meaningful streaming options now

Please can we have an update ASAP?

Thanks

That doesn't appear to be Toshiba USA, and this is the forums for Toshiba USA. Toshiba operates separately in each region.

Re: BDX2400 lost the NETFLIX app

On Friday 27th we lost netflix on my BDX2400KB , this is most annoying as the main reason i bought this machine was to use this facility with my plasma tv. I only watch dvds now and again and our old Philips player was past it.  It was going good on netflix , I got the hang of it. and now it looks like i will have to bin it after only a cople of months use. What a complete waste of money. Come on Toshiba! give us all back our NETFLIX! I'm missing better call Saul... not fair.

I believe these are Toshiba UK's models. This is the forum for Toshiba USA. You should contact Toshiba in your country.

Ah ha! no portal earlier on and when i try it...only you tube, picasa and facebook  the netflix advert is missing... I think I'm gonna switch it off at the wall and see if it loads ... if not I'm gonna go in a darkened room and cry.

Re: BDX2400 lost the NETFLIX app

Although its not a permenant fix there is a way to at least get back your iPlayer / NetFlix for a temp period.

There have been mentions in these threads to factory default the box.  And you get your apps back.  Well that works about 1 in 10 times as it appears that the update occurs when you click on the portal button.  (you can run a network trace to see what is happening as you press the buttons).

So basically try this ...

1) Remove Network Cable ..

2) Factory Reset the box in the settings page ...

3) Enter the portal ...

4) You will get your apps back, no update can take place with no network connection ...

5) Replace network cable ...

6) Load your app ... (netflix will need the authentication again thou) ... iPlayer will be ok as is ...

7) Leave the box switched on for good  ...

8) Enjoy your Toshiba product ...

I have had no end of issues with this box after buying a few year back.  Its a shame Toshiba support can't provide a solution by now, and we have to figure out a fix like this ourselves ...

Anyway hope that works for you - its not a very green solution to leave the box on but there we go  :-)
