usb power exceeded port when external dvd writer plugged in

After plugging in external dvd writer, power surge window pops up and tells to disconnect. Says it requires to much power from the usb port. How can I fix problem so I can use the writer? Laptop is a Toshiba Satellite P25-S607, MCE with 2.8 and 1 gig memory. DVD writer is brand new samsung SE-S084 external unit. Any answers?? thanks

You would need to purchase a powered USB hub. The power is supplied by plugging into your wall receptacle. These are examples.

USB 2.0 4-Port Mini Hub With AC Power

CyberPower USB Hub 7-Port 2.0 with AC Adapter and Flash Drive

Thanks Jerry for the info. It is greatly appreciated. Now I am off to purchase and then let the burning begin.
