I have the same problem with the P55-A5200.  It went to sleep and will not power back on.  The power LED light is on but the laptop will not wak up, power adapter is tested and so is the power outlet.  I tried the memory slot trick and didn't work.  My battery is internal, no battery to take off and put back on.  What now???

See solution that kenna discovered to reset laptop with internal battery, insert a small object into the force shut down hole #3

Hi Tranquilo. Try the other suggestions in the reply by Dokie much earlier in the thread.

Re: My laptop won't turn on!!!

I have an S55-A5339. It charges, as the power light comes on when plugging the thing in, and the battery/power light goes from red to white after a while. It just does nothing when you press the power button--by that I mean it refuses to start up. Yesterday it did the same thing but started after I hit reset using the little reset hole/button on the back. And it worked normally once started. But today it won't start even after hitting reset again. It is also a laptop that I rarely use so there is very little wear and tear on it so it is odd and frustrating.

Hi.

It is my first message here. I registered just to add my solution into this topic.

I had that problem exactly after similar stuff. My laptop was in use without power on battery and I was going to sleep. On battery it went to sleep mode in half hour, I think, but at the morning I was unable to switch laptop on. My model is new, 1 month old today, Toshiba Satellite L50D Black. When I turned it on, screen was black, not even Toshiba logo and all lights were on (eg. power, caps and num lock, also battery and wifi indicators). Also fan was going strong, but no boot.

I was searching the whole Internet, but since there is no removable battery, most of guides to reset stuff I found pretty useless for me. Even Toshiba's info about Reset hole, but I was unable to locate it on this item, because I think it is not available in this model. I was about to go back to shop from where I purchased this, but I choosed to let PC go open without power, only on battery until battery goes zero. You will know that when lights will go off, so battery is empty then. Now when it is finally empty, put it into charge, push on/off button and your laptop finally boots and works normally. At least this happened to me. I hope it will never do again this stuff. So far, in love with this piece.

I hope this helps someone.

Have a nice day.

Good information!

Toshiba should add item that to its (well done) videos below - for laptops with a missing reset button.

Re: My laptop won't turn on!!!

Now I'm into another problem with it.

It now started to do this: it reboots fine, but when I shut it off. It do it and then when I try to open it. I press On/Off button and I get no Toshiba logo - but fan and stuff is going. When I longpress On/Off, it shuts, then I put it again now and now it boots normally. What to do? I have reinstalled the whole system, but it still keeps doing it?

Hey.

I think it is still the same as I described it in Previous Message.

Toshiba Satellite L50D Black

It is month old and started to do first symptoms like no start at all, no matter what you do, only boots to black screen and ON/OFF light on. I fixed it by draining battery out and now it won't start at first try, only when I long-press button (eg. forceshutdown) and then it starts normally with Toshiba logo. It also starts when I press shortly On/off on that black screen, it goes to sleep mode, and from it it starts normally also.

I tried several reinstalls and it still do this. I think there's nothing to do with Windows/software side, as problem is here even at default apps.

Any help or should I go to shop for return/repair?

Satellite L50D-B-172 (PSKULE-04V06KN5) - the one from Finland

Satellite L50D-B-171 (PSKULE-04U005N5) - from Sweden

Others in Norway and Denmark. Seems like I can't find anything in English.

You've demonstrated that the problem is not in software. So it's either hardware or the UEFI (BIOS). Look up your computer's BIOS update here. It should be this one.

Good luck!

Hi.

My BIOS is exactly this one, 1.60, I updated it by Toshiba program request. But I updated it on first day of purchase, so nothing to do with this, so it is more likely hardware problem. Also my great friend said this, most likely not Windows causing it. It's sad to go back to shop with new laptop, but it's better to fix, even if it boots fine from sleep mode or if I never shut it off... Especially when warranty.

So in other words I need to go to shop, asking them to send this to repair.

My PC, it is purchased in Finland.

Thank you very much for all the help. I come back with results.
