SatelliteP770-PSBY3U-03L01Q As mentioned above, there is a loud(depending on speaker vol) clicking sound whenever the mouse or touchpad button is pushed that causes the computer to perform an operation. This is very annoying as it does it all the time, if the sound is on. Makes listening to music, playing games, and just working with the computer a pain in the ----. The noise sounds like relays opening/closing!!
ANY IDEAS other than not using the sound??

OOPS,
Should have said it is a problem when using Internet Explorer 8!! Little or no clicking in other programs. Minor static sound with wireless but can live with it so far

Are you talking about a sound when you click on a link?

That model must be special order - or maybe for a big-box store. These are the models I can locate in your part-number family (PSBY3U). All of them use essentially the same drivers and utilities.

Jerry,
The computer is a customized P770-BT4G22 with 6Gb ram, 500/7200 rpm HDD, WiFi/Bluetooth, Enhanced battery, and windows7 Pro. The sound happens every time I click the left mouse button on either the touchpad or external mouse. The sound is internal to the computer with a chu ching type noise. It happens when I click on a new webb site or when the result is a change in the screen.
Regards,
TC

If it doesn't come out of the speaker, it's nothing I would know about.

Jerry,
Guess I am not making myself clear, it apparently is coming through the speaker as when the speker is muted it does not happen!!

One of my favorites. I have it set to qclick.wav.
Open Sound in Control Panel. In the Program Events box on the Sounds tab, locate the Start Navigation event, which is under Windows Explorer. Set the sound to (None) as shown.

Jerry,
Thanks!! Silence is golden!!
I should have thought of that, but I am, once again, having to learn a NEW version of windows and Office!! seems Microsoft has to keep their programers and support teams busy. I was perfectly happy with XP and office 2002. I guess perfecting/correcting errors in/to a program isn't as profit intensive as completely changing them??
Thanks again,
TC

You're welcome. Happy to help.
Silence is golden!!
I like the feedback that my click has been received. I like a keyboard that clicks too.
