May I please have the unsupported procedure to gain root access?  There are some applications that will not run without it (Titanium Backup and such).  I have no intent of ever requesting support after this.

As stated Titanium won't work because not rooted. I have found a free app that does most that titanium does. The app is called "App Backup & Restore" on the android market. It will batch backup user apps without compression so you can also backup to any other device as well.
